Review - Prancing Leopard Organics - Corsica Yoga Crop Pants

I recently did a spotlight post on Prancing Leopard Organics, and I have had the pleasure of trying out their Corsica Yoga Crop Pants. I have to say that I am very pleased with the excellent product as well as the customer service, sustainable packaging, and great presentation!

The pants are unique in many ways... They are made with new high-performance organic fabric called Zeugma® Cotton, which I hadn't heard of before:

"Zeugma® is a brand name for textiles made with a new proprietary spinning process whereby the cotton fibers are mechanically aligned and tightly interconnected to form long, smooth filaments."

When I took the pants out of the package,  I could have sworn that they were made from at least 50% synthetic material, because of the feel and density of the fabric. It is hard to believe that they are 95% Organic Cotton! (I mean that in a good way!) The fabric is thick but comfortable... no show through with these babies!

I was intrigued by their triple-layer flapped knee, which I haven't seen anywhere else. The knees were comfortable, and it was nice to feel an extra couple layers of cushion for poses such as camel pose (Ustrasana).

I have had the opportunity to wear them several times, and I am very happy with the look and performance. They are very comfortable, don't sag, and conform to my body nicely. I like the length (I am tall), and the slight flare at the hem. They are high quality, look great on, and are very forgiving. The waist does creep down on me a bit as I do my yoga routine - but that happens to me with other yoga pants as well. I am a pear shape, so I am sure it is due to my body structure.

That said, I would have to say that they are just about the best fitting and most comfortable yoga pants I have ever had. I could easily wear them out in public without feeling they were inappropriate... in true studio to street style! Thank you Prancing Leopard Organics!

Spotlight on Prancing Leopard Organics

Prancing Leopard Organics is a company after my own heart... They take activewear from studio to street with their stylish, organic active clothing line. I am a big proponent of "less is more", and being able to have a wardrobe that is multi-functional. I also have given up on any kind of clothing that is not comfortable to wear - in contrary to my teenage years when I suffered in great looking but torturous outfits! I also like and appreciate the fact that they don't use synthetic blends, only organic cotton blends for their clothing line.

"We longed for clothing that would help us live a 360° organic lifestyle – comfortable and stylish enough to go from the cafe to yoga, then to meetings or an evening out without changing. We also care deeply about the earth’s future and open business practices — and so Prancing leopard sprung to life — organically.

Love, care and organic cotton: this is our passion. Our dream is really great clothing that intelligently supports a dynamic lifestyle and a company that endeavors to give back to the society, culture and the earth in every way. Balance.

To benefit both the wearer as well as the world, we chose organic fabrics. Our goal was to find the most beautiful fabrics, combining natural organic fibers with comfort and performance. Made with sustainable fibers to support organic farmers and sustainable farming practices."

In addition to a clothing line for men, women, and children, Prancing Leopard Organics offers handmade artisan pieces, Malas (made by co-owner Sevda), yoga accessories, and will soon be adding Natural Health items. All clothing is currently milled and made in Turkey in a fair trade manor, and all fabrics are GOTS certified.

Spotlight on EcoEnclose - Update!

Update!!!

Some of you may have read my spotlight post on the sustainable packaging company - EcoEnclose. I am now working for EcoEnclose in lovely Longmont, Colorado, as the Customer Service Specialist! Yes, I wear a hat of many colors. :) This is also a reason why I have not been posting as much... sorry about that!

Once again, I know that this is not directly correlated to sustainable clothing, but if you are buying sustainable clothing, then I hope that the businesses you purchase from will choose to use sustainable packaging. If not, please share our link and ask them to make the switch - We have the highest recycled content products available on the market! Businesses can also brand our products with their artwork or logos:

This is a REALLY fun place to work! My friends that I work with are all so talented, fun-loving, and committed - they truly believe in what they are doing which makes this business a success! It is nice to laugh at a random note or picture drawn on one of the cartons, to feel good about the eco products we use in the warehouse, or to listen to the witty banter of two comedians at work. Good for productivity... and good for the soul!

We custom make each and every box - no storing countless stock boxes that would take up another warehouse (and increase our footprint). Ordering is really easy via the website, where you can get instant quotes and order complimentary samples! There is no wholesale account required - anyone who is interested in purchasing sustainable packaging is able to do so through our website.

The Sustainable Path

I find myself to be a person that avoids anything uncomfortable... whether it be physical or emotional. I am not the type to push myself, yet need others to push me out of my comfort zone. I think that it is the basic human condition to avoid "unhappiness" in any form, and to strive for comfort or "happiness". My studies in meditation and Buddhism challenge me to look at the current moment with a type of indifference. I can say, "I know that I am feeling pain, but let me take a look at this pain instead dwelling on the thought of getting rid of it." This doesn't mean that I can't try to be better or do better, or strive for a different reality. This means that we can't hold on to the thought that everything has to be perfect and make us feel "happy". I think once we accept that we will feel pain and pleasure, sadness and elation, and comfort and discomfort, we can throw away the expectation of always feeling "happy".

I started off with my beliefs on life and happiness because I find them to overflow in the realm of living a sustainable life. We are not always going to be comfortable when choosing the "right thing to do", especially when it comes to creature comforts that many in our modern world enjoy. When we choose to be sustainable, we may be riding our bike or walking out in the elements, and may have to "feel" cold, or even get wet. We may keep the thermostat down, or in some cases only use a fireplace or wood stove to heat our abode. We may choose to only eat what is available locally, instead of going out to buy those melons we have been craving in the middle of January. We may have to do much more physical work by growing our own food or working the land. We may also choose to only purchase used or organic clothing - or even challenge ourselves to not buy anything new for one year. This can lead us to feel like we are "doing without". But I think that is all a mindset, and something that we may need to change in ourselves, for the sake of our health and our planet.

I choose the path to sustainability because it is in my moral compass to do so. I find that the more I learn the more I feel that I need to change. Don't get me wrong - I am not an Eco Saint! But I try to do my best, and keep pushing myself to do more. By choosing organic and sustainable clothing, we can continue on this path and not get sidetracked by the pretty, packaged flowers in the deep dark woods. Get a little uncomfortable, you may just find comfort in it!

Namaste,
(The divine in me honors the divine in you),
